The Chuck Brown Memorial project was publicly funded by Washington DC’s Department of General Services to honor the Godfather of Go-Go music, Chuck Brown — a DC legend. The project is in Langdon Park, where Brown was born and raised. The memorial includes a plaza, an amphitheater for public events and gatherings, and a custom-designed wall honoring the history of Chuck Brown’s career.

Greening Urban, LLC developed a state-of-the-art stormwater management system that included a series of permeable pavement, bioretention areas, and an underdrain system that integrates the stormwater management system into a complicated challenging site. The site’s stormwater elements are integrated into the plaza’s honorary wall and surrounding plaza and landscape. The project integrates public art with sophisticated site and stormwater management design.
